This especially goes to the bicyclist who was traveling south on Saguaro and Grande the other week when the light turned red for Saguaro traffic; you went right through the light without stopping.
I was making a left turn off Grande and if I made my turn a little wider, I would have hit you – not expecting someone to run a red light. When I was able to talk with this person, his answer was “bicyclists don’t have to stop because there is no traffic coming from the west, as the road is a ‘T’ street.” Thought I knew the rules of the road and told this person he was incorrect.

To verify this issue, I contacted the Sheriff’s office and DPS and they both said, “All bicyclists are to stop at red lights and stop signs just as other vehicles are required to do…they are not exempt.”
Bicyclists want to blame vehicles for not giving them room or sharing the road. However, this time, the bicyclist was totally incorrect on his understanding of the rules of the road.
So, bicyclists follow the rules of the road and stop at all red lights and stop signs or you may become involved in an accident and be injured. In addition, you can be ticketed. The life you save will be your own.
