Robert Kopulos (Bob), 65, of Fountain Hills, died May 31, 2013 with his wife, Judy; nephew, Gery Chico; niece, Sunny Chico; and sister-in-law Anne Harrington at his side.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 47 years, Judy Kopulos, also his beloved siblings, sisters: Jackie Chico and Monica (Dolly) Beske; brother, Gordon Kopulos; and sisters-in-law, Carol Kopulos, Connie Kopulos, and Harriet Meller; his wife’s sisters and brother, Karen Wear, Anne Harrington, Gini Brown, and Woody Cordill. He is survived also by many much loved nephews, and nieces.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Kopulos; father, Spero Kopulos; brothers, Jimmy Kopulos and George Meller; and a sister, Dorothy Meller.

The youngest of eight children, Bob was born and raised in Chicago, Ill., where he attended Roosevelt University; he then resided for several years in southern California, Detroit, Mich., and eventually became a long- time resident of the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills areas.

He had a long and successful career in sales beginning at age five and continuing into adulthood. He and his brother, Gordon, shined shoes, sold newspapers, chance books and apothecary jars to help their single mother with supporting the family.

His early life led him later to a successful sales career in the commodity and titanium industries.

Bob had lifelong interests in architecture, literature, sports and jazz. As an amateur musician, he played jazz saxophone, and supported the art with both money and time.

When he was younger, he played baseball and was an outstanding athlete. Bob cared deeply for his family and friends and always tried to uplift others. He made people feel at ease and could make any occasion fun. He was passionate about supporting charities to feed the hungry and help children and he always looked for, and found, ways to help others but rarely spoke of such deeds.

He really strove to live up to one of his favorite quotations: “Live your life as though your every act were to become universal law” (Immanuel Kant).

A truly good man has left us and will be forever missed.

A memorial service will be held at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.

The service will be held Saturday, June 29, and will begin at 1 p.m. to be followed by a gathering at the mortuary.

His wife requests donations in lieu of flowers. Donations may be sent to: Doctors Without Borders, Fight Hunger in America, or Feed the Children.
