Four Peaks Rotary welcomed incoming Rotary District Governor David Simmer to the club’s Feb. 14 meeting.
Simmer spoke about Rotary’s global fight in the eradication of polio. Just 33 years ago when Rotary International initiated the war against the disease, millions of people were affected by the life-challenging malady. Today, just two cases of the disease have been reported in the past year, world-wide.
Simmer has served as secretary and president of the Sedona Rotary Club and assistant governor for five clubs from Sedona to the Grand Canyon. He was named the club’s Rotarian of the Year in 2016 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Simmer has appeared before clubs across Arizona on behalf of the Rotary Foundation and urged Four Peaks Rotary members to continue to work toward community involvement and local charitable causes.

Four Peaks Rotary was active with last week’s Great Fair in Fountain Hills acting as official “keepers of the fairway” where members voluntarily picked up and disposed of trash along the Avenue of the Fountains and Saguaro Boulevard during the three-day event.
The club is also gearing up for its annual Golf Charity Classic event, set for March 18 at the Ancala Country Club in Scottsdale. For more information on the golf outing, visit fourpeaksgolf.com.
Four Peaks Rotary meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 6:45 to 8:15 a.m. at Fountain View Village, 16455 E. Avenue of the Fountains.
