Rules govern fireworks sales, usage

Those wanting to ring in the New Year with fireworks will find their party packs now on sale at several Fountain Hills stores.

Arizona limits fireworks sales to holidays such as July 4th and New Year’s and then they are limited to “novelty” items.

Fountain Hills Asst. Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Dave Ott said the sales are permitted between Dec. 10 and Jan. 3, but they can only be used between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3.

24 and Jan. 3.

Ott said he is doing inspections to assure that items on store shelves are in the category of “legal for sale.”

The stores also must have signs explaining the law and indicating that sales are limited to those 18 years of age and older.

Have a blast celebrating the holidays, but be careful.
