Sad day

I was extremely disturbed at learning of Pam Aister’s termination by the Fountain Hills School Board.

I had the pleasure of being Ms. Aister’s room mother when my daughter was in her class 23 years ago. I’ve been in her classroom many times. To this day, she will tell you that Ms. Aister was the best teacher she ever had, that she was firm but fair.

I served FHUSD as chair of the Parent Relations Commission, president of the Parent Teacher Organization, and several terms on the School Board, including two years as president of the board. In all those capacities, I’ve had the opportunity to observe and interact with so many wonderful teachers. None is more dedicated and passionate about teaching than Pam Aister.

I have read the record of the hearing and must say that the board has done a grave disservice to the students and parents of Fountain Hills in dismissing Pam Aister. It’s a sad day.
