Motorists need to be aware that the Town of Fountain Hills has installed a new crosswalk on Palisades Boulevard at Verde River Drive. Palisades is particularly wide at that location midway between Saguaro Boulevard and La Montana Drive, and through traffic on Palisades does not have a stop sign. The new crosswalk does provide pedestrians with a restricted safe area at the middle turn lane. There were several factors assessed in designing the crossing, according to Town Community Relations Director/PIO Mike Pelton. “Safety is our top priority, and when looking at this stretch of road, with multiple lanes of traffic and the wider crossing distance, adding a safety zone made sense,” Pelton said.
