Safety, enjoyment

Why should I pay more taxes?

Most of the people reading this paper are residents of Fountain Hills, as I am, and most of us chose this town to live in due to its amenities and lifestyle it provided. We all have ongoing expenses to maintain our homes, as does our larger home, the Town of Fountain Hills.

The town has felt a need to call on its residents to help increase its budget to maintain the upkeep and continue our wonderful lifestyle. I think it’s up to us as its residents to provide that increase to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our residents. Safety in maintaining roads, to eliminate potholes that cause accidents for cars, bike riders, runners and walkers. Enjoyment by maintaining the parks to continue the draw of fairs, entertainment, weekend picnickers and daily walkers.

Of course, there is the option to say no and not increase the budget, but that could cause the town seek other options, such as being absorbed by another town, such as Scottsdale or Mesa, which would mean that we all pay a primary property tax in any case. Let’s keep our money in Fountain Hills and keep our town.
