Saguaro

In October of 2009, Sunland Asphalt sent a proposal to Tom Ward, Director of Public Works, in the form of six options to correct Saguaro Blvd. The proposition stated this would reconstruct and be considered new with a 15-24-year life, with an estimated cost of $2,385,000.

This information was presented to the town council in early February of the next year. What did the tax payers receive from this? A bond issue for $8.2 million that encompassed a lot more than just pavement. I really take issue with this kind of thinking on behalf of the town administration. I take exception to the current proposal. Are we being sold a bill of good again? We do not need a property tax.

The City of Phoenix has built fire houses out of the same material that my house is built of. It has excellent insulation value and structural strength is eight times the strength of a 2x6 wall. An example of this in my house is that there are two floors below my garage. Is the current construction of the new fire house the best method of construction and cost? Has the town looked at other options? Enough said.

I question the financial analysis the town has presented for the need of a primary property tax.
