Saguaro facts

Letter writers to The Times are certainly entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts.

A letter in last week’s Times is a good example of that statement as it relates to the Saguaro bond issue.

Alan Grosso wrote, “The starting annual costs will more than likely increase over time as (the) assessed value on your home increase(s) over time.”

That statement is flat wrong.

The amount of the bonds is fixed. As your home values go up, the amount you will be assessed for the bonds in actual dollars will remain the same. So when the Citizens4Saguaro Committee says that the average homeowner today would pay less than 36 cents a day, that amount is not going to change.

Mr. Grosso also wrote that, “Road and infrastructure should be top priorities….” With that statement the over 50 members of the Citizens4Saguaro Committee couldn’t agree more. That is why we say please vote “yes” for the Saguaro bonds.
