The next production scheduled at Fountain Hills Theater is “Same Time, Next Year.”

It is a genuinely funny and genuinely romantic comedy that proves that anniversaries should be spent with the one you love…even if you aren’t married to them.

The fresh, touching, and hilariously funny story revolves around lovers Doris and George, married – to other people – who meet by chance while on separate business trips in 1951.

The pair vow to rendezvous each year in the same place, and end up finding a connection that transcends the initial spark of passion to span a quarter of a century’s worth of love, loss, joy, conflict, but ultimately a common ground that sustains their unique friendship.

“Same Time, Next Year” involves a tryst about the complexities of human relationships and the phenomenon of love. Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers.

One of the most popular romantic comedies of the century, “Same Time, Next Year” ran four years on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for lead actress Ellen Burstyn.

“Same Time, Next Year” is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

It is produced by Noel Irick and directed by Peter J. Hill. The show stars Chad Campbell and Heidi Carpenter and plays Jan. 9-25.

Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

A reception will be held on opening night for all those attending that evening, featuring free appetizers, wine and soft drinks.

Individual tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children 17 and under, plus a $3 handling fee on each ticket. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances. Group rates and student rush discounts are available.

All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at (480) 837-9661, ext. 3.

Box Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Visit the website at www.fhtaz.org.
