Another relay team automatically qualifies for state

For the second week in a row, the three Evans brothers and senior Brendan Davies automatically qualified for the state swim championships in a relay race.
They qualified in the 200m medley relay (1:47.86) at the Green and Gold Invite Saturday, Sept. 23, and they qualified for the 200m freestyle relay (1:36.98) at the Saturday Night Fever Invite Saturday, Sept. 30.
Senior Keian Evans had two top five individual finishes highlighted by winning second place in 100m fly (52.88). That automatically qualified for state, and his fifth-place finish in 100m breaststroke (1:04.32) provisionally qualified and was 0:00.11 away from automatically qualifying.

For the second week in a row, the three Evans brothers and senior Brendan Davies automatically qualified for the state swim championships in a relay race.
They qualified in the 200m medley relay (1:47.86) at the Green and Gold Invite Saturday, Sept. 23, and they qualified for the 200m freestyle relay (1:36.98) at the Saturday Night Fever Invite Saturday, Sept. 30.
Senior Keian Evans had two top five individual finishes highlighted by winning second place in 100m fly (52.88). That automatically qualified for state, and his fifth-place finish in 100m breaststroke (1:04.32) provisionally qualified and was 0:00.11 away from automatically qualifying.
Junior Avery Evans provisionally qualified in the 100m free (53.95) and was two seconds shy of qualifying in the 100m breaststroke (1:17.53). Freshman Kaiya Evans provisionally qualified in the 50m free (24.38) and the 100m butterfly (58.10), and Davies was 0.29 away from qualifying in the 100m free (58.90).
The 200m freestyle girls relay team (2:02.45) was one second away from provisionally qualifying, and two seconds away from the school record set in 2022 (2:00.68). Sophomore Natalie Owers provisionally qualified in the 200m free (2:13.17) and the 100 back (1:11.57).
Senior Julia Owers is two seconds away from the provisional mark in 100m free (1:05.58) and was six seconds away from qualifying in the 100m backstroke (1:18.73). Fellow senior Elizabeth Franzone swam the 100m free (1:12.26) and the 100m breaststroke (1:50.90).
Freshman Jack Stumpf improved on his 50m freestyle from a week before and dropped over two seconds (28.63). Stumpf trailed just behind junior Jacob Sommerschield in the 100m free, finishing at 1:09.60 and 1:10.23, respectively.
Junior Shania Rivera swam the 50m free (43.32) and sophomore Ryan Miller swam in the 100m free (1:18.65) and the 100m breaststroke (1:55.54). Freshmen James Fessenden (1:38.01) and Ellie Vickers (1:42.55) also swam the 100m breast, and Vickers raced in the 50m free (34.96).
The Falcons’ last chance to qualify for state is at two upcoming invitationals Saturday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday, Oct. 25. The Falcons will rest, refine their skills and practice until those invitationals.
They have meets to help them stay in competition shape against Independence Thursday, Oct. 5, and against Shadow Mountain and Mountain Pointe Thursday, Oct. 19.
