Scam alerts for Fountain Hills residents

Expert advice at Cares program

At a recent program hosted by the Town of Fountain Hills in its regular Cares series of events, residents were given advice on recognizing, avoiding and how to react to potential scams that come their way.

Representatives of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, the FBI and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office were present to talk with residents, and there was a voluminous amount of information presented. The Times Independent will break down this information and present it in a series of stories over the next few weeks.

Desiree Quintana, community outreach coordinator with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office spoke in detail on a number of potential scams. Some of the most common that people in Fountain Hills report to MCSO and other officials include government imposters and friends and family scams.
