Remember Jonathan Menchacovits? he is the fellow who reduced the price of a U.S. postage stamp by two cents. Well, at least he believes he did.
He now has something to say about the new tax proposal by the Town of Fountain Hills and its $50,000 cost for the voting process; twice voted down.
The town wants $7 million in new taxes per year, in perpetuity. Jonathan quotes Scarlet O’Hara; you know, the female lead character in “Gone with the Wind,” played by Vivian Leigh. “War, war, war, I don’t want to hear war no more,” and that said with her fetching Southern accent.

Jonathan changes that quote to “Tax, tax, tax, I don’t want to hear of tax no more.” And if you listen to him carefully, he can be heard saying, “your tax money; gone with the wind,” and that by spendthrift Fountain Hills.
Jon-boy recognizes a fallacy in this new political action committee called Save Our Town. He asks, “Save our town from what? Who is going to save us from this appropriately-named political action committee?” Look up the word sot in your “Funk and Wagnalls.”
For your information, Gilbert is building a 260-acre, $1 billion theme park. The financial fiasco, the lagoon, barely avoided that level of competition from Gilbert. It causes one to wonder about the capability of the present town council.
