The final Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board meeting of 2017 is set to begin a bit earlier than normal this week, with members meeting in executive session to discuss a pair of items beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 13, with the public portion of the meeting expected to kick off at 6:30 p.m. in the District Learning Center.
During the executive session, the board will conduct the annual evaluation for Superintendent Patrick Sweeney. They will also meet with designated representatives of the public body to discuss negotiations with employee organizations in regards to salaries, salary schedules or compensation in the form of fringe benefits. Like the superintendent evaluation, this is an annual item that helps the district gear up for spring staff negotiations and hires.

Once the regular meeting gets rolling, the board will begin with a special recognition of the state champion volleyball squad, as well as Metro Region Coach of the Year Peter McGloin.
A few housekeeping items will make up the majority of the remaining agenda, including an update on the athletics program from Director Amanda Baca and a presentation from Fountain Hills Middle School Principal Linda McKeever.
A pair of extracurricular trips will join the agenda as discussion items, including an Art Club trip to Italy during fall break 2018, and a trip to France during fall break 2019.
