The search for a new Fountain Hills Unified School District superintendent is underway, with discussion on the search process to be discussed during tonight’s Governing Board meeting, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the District Learning Center.
Superintendent Tom Lawrence announced his impending retirement late last month, informing the board of his decision during the Jan. 28 meeting.
Now the search is on for a replacement, with the board to discuss the timeline and procedures of the process during this evening’s discussion and action agenda.
Also carrying over from the previous meeting will be a board vote on the high school policy involving the repeating of a course in order to replace a grade. Current high school policy includes a replaced F grade in a student’s GPA calculations, with recent concerns raised by a local parent bringing the policy up for discussion.
The board will discuss the policy further at tonight’s meeting and may vote to either take specific action or refer the item back to the high school to be handled by site administration.
Also making tonight’s agenda is the possible reconfiguration of the pickleball courts located on the high school campus, as well as a number of extracurricular trips. A Hospitality Management trip to NAU will be up for a vote, while the board will hold first discussions on a high school music department trip to San Diego, a Sister Cities Club trip to Dierdorf, Germany, and a robotics competition trip to San Diego.
