School board meets Wednesday Night

With one school year wrapping up and another one just around the corner, the School Board tonight will discuss several housekeeping items as well as take possible action on items concerning principals’ contracts, the employee dental benefits and the superintendent’s contract.

Before tonight’s meeting can get under way, the board will first meet in executive session to hold its annual review and discussion of the superintendent’s contract. That session will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is closed to the public.

The board will vote concerning the superintendent’s contract later in the meeting. Other items making up the action portion of tonight’s meeting include a revised look at the budget, the principals’ contracts and the employee dental benefits.

The board last month discussed the dental benefits alongside talk of the necessary budget cuts for the upcoming academic year. It was suggested that making the dental benefits optional could save the district $60,000 out of the $427,000 in needed cuts.

The budget deficit will be a topic of discussion, as will extracurricular fee schedules. Being part of the information/discussion portion of the meeting, however, no action will be taken concerning those two items.

This evening’s regular meeting is open to the public and is hosted out of the FHUSD Learning Center.
