After the Fountain Hills Unified Governing Board decided last spring to eliminate 14 teaching positions prior to issuing contracts for this school year, District Superintendent Cain Jagodzinski said he would have preferred the number be zero.
The superintendent had the same sentiment March 4 when he asked the board to approve budget cuts totaling $1.4 million that involve a reduction in force of six teaching positions for 2026-27.
The board unanimously approved the elimination of four elementary / preschool positions and two at Fountain Hills High School, and, in a separate vote, authorized Jagodzinski to make reductions necessary to reach the estimated $1.4 million in cuts needed to balance the 2026-27 budget year, which begins July 1.
