School tax credits accepted early

A big change was implemented in recent years to the way Arizona tax credit donations can be made to schools, with the cutoff date now pushed to April 15 of each year.
In the past, tax credit donations had to be received by the end of the calendar year.
To that end, Fountain Hills Unified School District and Fountain Hills Charter School usually had a big push to remind folks about their tax credit options, as well as the impending deadline of Dec. 31.
Following recent changes to the tax credit timeline, however, the deadline is now April 15 for tax credit donations to be utilized for the previous year’s taxes. However, for those who wish to get their donations in before the New Year, that remains an option.
As always, these are a dollar-for-dollar contribution that can be made to a school, program, sport, activity or general area of your choosing.
The amounts are $200 for single individuals or couples filing separately, or $400 for couples filing jointly.
