The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s Merci Train boxcar will debut an updated exhibit Nov. 13, offering visitors a closer look at a unique piece of Arizona and American history.
The exhibit explores the 1949 Merci Train, a gift from the people of France to the United States in appreciation for the generosity of Americans who sent food and supplies to France following World War II through the Friendship Train.
Arizona received one of 49 boxcars filled with gifts from French communities. Its boxcar is among the few that remain intact, with its original contents still accounted for.
