Alex Feldman’s work with Paradise Shadows Cub Scout Pack No. 650 continues into its third year, providing activities and recreation for refugee children hailing from Africa and the Middle East.

Feldman has been helping these youngsters transition to their new lives in the United States for a number of years, creating the Scout Pack back in 2011.

Feldman, a Fountain Hills resident, works primarily with youths now staying at an apartment complex in Phoenix. His Cub Scout pack runs year-round, includes both boys and girls, and is fully funded by himself and the contributions of others.

Along with regular scouting activities, Feldman said he likes to come up with creative new ways to keep the kids active. That’s why he brought his pack out to Fountain Hills on Tuesday, July 9.

In the midst of enjoying a day at the local Splash Pad, the group was invited in to the nearby Amenzone Fitness for a tough, but fun, workout. After that, it was back into the cool water of the Splash Pad.

A 501(c)3 organization, Feldman said the pack is always on the lookout for additional adult helpers and donations to help fund members and activities.
