OPINION — Three cheers to the Phoenix high school students from Carl Hayden, Betty Fairfax, and Central high schools who marched to the Arizona Capitol on Jan. 28,
protesting the unbridled ICE force terrorizing communities across our country. Perhaps they are concerned the same may befall our families and communities here in Arizona. Only Homeland Security knows their next target, where the full weight of the government invasion will descend.
In response to this extraordinary display of civic responsibility and participation, Sen. John Kavanagh -R from Fountain Hills, ridiculed the students by posting a photo of the students outside the Capitol with the following caption: “Anti-Ice demonstrators converged on the state capitol even though the only ice is in the coffee room.” (Arizona Mirror 1/29/26)
