I support John Kavanagh for State Senator because he has done an excellent job representing us in the Legislature for the last eight years as our State Representative.
Representative Kavanagh excelled especially in constituent services. Here are just a few examples. When a local resident was about to lose his business due to a regulation change by the Arizona Department of Revenue (DOR), Kavanagh called a meeting between him and the head of DOR and brokered a rule change on the spot that saved the man’s business and the jobs of his employees.
When a local disabled resident wanted to bake cookies and cakes in her home kitchen for retail sales, the county Health Department denied her a permit citing health concerns. After researching the issue and discovering that many states allow such enterprises for non-hazardous baked goods, Kavanagh changed the law and now over 3,000 Arizona residents, some in Fountain Hills, have thriving cottage industries where they earn a little bit of money and a lot of self-respect.

When a local resident was being harassed with frivolous lawsuits and forced to pay unnecessary legal fees, Kavanagh passed a law allowing such harassers to be deemed vexatious litigants, requiring a judge to pre-clear their lawsuits before costing decent people unnecessary money and aggravation.
When Governor Brewer tried to change the sales tax law for new home construction, which would have diverted the revenue out of Fountain Hills, Kavanagh stood up for small towns and stopped the raid on our funds.
The list goes on and on about how Representative Kavanagh has served us well. That’s why I am voting John Kavanagh for State Senator. I know a good thing when I see it.
