While hail was not officially reported in Fountain Hills, plenty of rainfall, thunder and lightning swept across the landscape headed into the evening, creating a need to close off some washes due to dangerous crossing conditions.
As of 6 p.m., the biggest downpour on the day reportedly hit the Adero Canyon Trailhead, where 3.46 inches of rain were recorded across the storm that lasted several hours. The gauge at Fountain Hills Fire Department Station #1 on Palisades recorded 1.42 inches or rain, with the Sunridge Canyon dam on the golf course coming in at 2.36 inches. A total of 1.82 inches were recorded on Golden Eagle Blvd. at the water tank inside Eagles Nest.
