On Thursday, March 1, the Lord called Sherry Riggert home to heaven surrounded by her family.

Sherry was born to Kenneth and Audrey (Kern) Sanborn, in Smith Center, Kan. on Dec. 16, 1940. Her father, Kenneth, was a city manager, so Sherry lived in several Kansas cities and towns while her father went to increasing job responsibilities.

Following high school, she attended Kansas State University where she received her degree in home economics education. While at K-State, she met the love of her life, Roger, who she shared her life with in marriage for 56 years.

Sherry leaves behind her husband, Roger; her son, Brad Riggert (Kirsten); her daughters, Gayle Riggert-Harris (Michael), and Jennifer Riggert; grandsons, Paul Riggert and Val Riggert-Harris, and sister, Karen Day (Jim). She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brother, Larry Sanborn.

She was a devoted mother and after teaching for a few years, spent her energy and time with the children as they were in their formative years.

Sherry loved music. She sang in church choirs for many years and sang in the Community Chorus in Fountain Hills for several years. She and Roger were also season subscribers to the Phoenix Chorale for many years. Her daughters followed in her footsteps in their love of music, as they both have music careers.

She also loved going to the movies. She and Roger had a “date” day most every Friday, when they went to the movies and out to dinner. She walked around the lake and exercised regularly. Sherry was known as the “card lady” with family and friends, as she sent cards for all occasions.

Thanks to our good and gracious God for His mercy and love in calling her to faith and granting her eternal life. We can also thank Him for all the blessings she enjoyed in this life.

Visitation with family will be held Monday, April 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held in the same location on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour before service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 17270, Fountain Hills, AZ 85269.
