Shea widening in Fountain Hills unnecessary

OPINION – I agree with the two writers from last month. Do not widen Shea Boulevard. It is fine the way it is!

I have lived in Fountain Hills since 2017 and have never seen a traffic jam on the segment of Shea that is proposed for widening. At that rate, Shea will never be busy enough to warrant expensive widening, which would require very tall road cuts and most likely, in my estimation, the elimination of the beautiful center landscaping strip.

This project is entirely unnecessary. As the others have indicated, let's instead use our limited funds for important projects, like repairing our town streets that need it so badly. Motivation to undertake a Shea-widening project appears to be in the form of a significant federal grant for such an effort. However, the Town would still be required to kick in a very sizable portion of the apparent $3M+ bill.
