GriefShare is a 13-week grief support program designed to help individuals understand and navigate the emotions that follow the loss of a loved one, according to a press release.
Participants will learn what to expect in the days ahead, what is normal in grief and practical ways to cope with grief’s many challenges.
Because grief does not follow a neat or predictable path, the program offers compassionate guidance and encouragement every step of the way, the release added, inviting anyone who has experienced the loss of a family member or friend to attend.
Each weekly session includes a video presentation featuring experienced counselors, pastors and healthcare professionals, along with personal stories from people who have walked through grief themselves.
Following the video, participants engage in a small-group discussion where they can share, listen and apply what they’ve learned in a supportive environment. Each participant will also receive a workbook filled with helpful exercises to use throughout their personal grieving process.
Topics addressed include managing grief-related emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, sadness, anger, and regret; coping with changes in relationships and daily life; and recognizing when grief feels overwhelming or stuck.
The GriefShare group will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
A $20 registration fee covers the cost of the participant workbook and scholarships are available.
