Shirley Rochelle Fritzel passed away peacefully at her home on Christmas day.
She was born on July 3, 1929 in Chicago where she met her high school sweetheart, Joe. They married, had five children and owned and operated Skokie Bakery, where they worked side by side for 18 years until they retired and moved to Fountain Hills in 1983.
Shirley loved to create pottery for family and friends. On any given day she could be found laughing and socializing. An avid reader, Shirley belonged to several book clubs and Bible study groups and she cherished her “book club girls.”
She loved music, especially show tunes, and encouraged her children and grandchildren to perform. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, surrounded by friends, family, games and music.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dana and Ken.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Shirley is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Fritzel and her children, Judi and Bud Fitts, Patricia and Paul Blevin, Joseph Fritzel, Deborah and Scott Barbour and John Fritzel and Jo Ann Revak as well as her grandchildren, Jenny, Joseph, Amy, Brian, Alex, Ashley, Cliff and Jeannie, and her great-grandchildren, Kegan Lilia, William, Gillian, Dylan, Evan, Ava and Sam as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Fountain Hills Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 17581, Fountain Hills, AZ 85269.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
