Fountain Hills is experiencing some growing pains. Our main thoroughfare -- Saguaro Boulevard -- is being totally rebuilt and there is additional work being done on Shea Boulevard.
That’s the good news. But with that comes the detours, dodging the blinking light barricades, long lines at intersections and, at times, plenty of flying dust. Almost everyone has been affected by the work. Many motorists are taking different routes to avoid the construction.
There are some folks who have been affected even more. Many of our businesses are hurting because of the construction. Most report their income is down as compared to this same time last year.

The Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce and these business owners are asking for your help. Whenever you can, remember to shop local. Consider venturing into the construction zones once in a while to help your neighbors who are in business in our community. They are here to serve you during the good times. Now our rough roads have led them into some tough times.
One positive side note – some businesses are actually reporting the road construction is not causing issues. Some have told the Chamber they believe a few new customers have stopped by because they’re driving slower and noticed their business.
But overall, it’s going to be a long summer for many of our businesses along Saguaro.
Work on Saguaro and Shea boulevards will actually be completed one day. We will have a prosperous-looking entryway to our community. Until then we ask you to give the local businesses a helping hand and bring them back on the road to recovery.
