According to a Washington Post – ABC News poll conducted from Oct. 17-20 with a sample of 1002 people, 78 percent of respondents said that they didn’t notice or were in no way affected by the recent government shutdown. (Please note that the organizations which conducted this poll are eminent Left Wing mainstays.)
This is precisely what Washington Democrats feared. This is why they fought to prevent the shutdown. It wasn’t because they feared any damage to the nation and its people. It was because they didn’t want us all to realize, graphically illustrated, how horribly bloated our federal payrolls are!
The government furloughed 800,000 employees and no one cared, no one noticed their absence. Now it’s obvious to anyone who is awake, we don’t need these people. Whatever it is that they do, it’s not very important and we can live without their services.

The government itself termed these 800,000 employees as “non-essential.” Yet, they all get paid every week. They get raises every year. More than that, they are in line for pensions.
What that means is that when their careers of successfully providing no value in return for their salary ends, they will continue to be paid to not work until they die. Who will be paying them to not work? Their support will be paid for by those of us private sector people who do create value as we work.
In addition to paying for retired federal non-essential employees, those of us who create value as we work must also save for our own retirement. Why? Because no one will be paying us to not work when we stop working!
Don’t be shy! Call your Congressman and tell him or her (depending on what state you are registered in) you want this travesty to end.
