The Town Council will hear a presentation on a proposed downtown sidewalk plan that’s included in the 2013-14 Capital Improvement Plan.

The budget includes $40,000 for design and construction of the sidewalks adjacent to vacant property in the downtown area.

The Town General Plan approved by voters in 2010 identifies five priority areas for sidewalk installation.

These projects would be designed in-house by staff and outside bids for construction would be solicited.

The improvements may require the relocation of fire hydrants, backflow preventers and water meter vaults in some locations.

The council agenda also includes the transfer of $209,954 from the General Fund to the Municipal Property Corporation to eliminate an MPC deficit for the 2012-13 fiscal year.

The MPC oversees some financing for town bonds including the Community Center. The center was paid off by the MPC.

The council will receive an update on the Transit Planning Study being conducted by Valley Metro RPTA for the town.

There will also be an update regarding the activities of the community grant committee established for the My Republic Rewards Program for community-wide recycling activities.

The Town Council meets Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
