Signs

Our town council’s new wayfinding signage project is only the latest in its series of unnecessary, insanely overpriced boondoggles, a horrendous waste of our taxpayer dollars.

Council actually contracted and paid a consultant $95,000 up-front design and assessment fees only, not to include sign fabrication or installation. Total cost is unknown but estimated at roughly $150,000. Add to this the new fire station contract accepted at $600,000 over budget and we have $0.75 million wasted on two projects alone. That would have been a good start for funding real town necessities.

All this from a council that has scared part of our population into believing we actually need to vote upon ourselves a huge, permanent tax to feed their voracious appetite for gross, useless, overspending of our tax dollars. This reeks of socialism. Really, have we lost our minds?

I have examined our existing signage around town and it is excellent. Very well-thought-out and in very good condition, it has a stylish, small-town charm and class that will never be found again. To destroy this is a crime! Our original town signage is a significant, historical, cultural resource that must be protected. A few signs are faded and could simply be repainted to match. I know an experienced sign painter who indicated he would do that for free.

Stop the new wayfinding signage project dead in its tracks. Dump it. Cut our losses now and save us from an additional $55,000, plus wastage. Consider the $95,000 already wasted a lesson.

Dump the town council as soon as their terms expire.

Vote no on the socialistic primary property tax, whose sudden, alleged dire need council has so ardently propagandized to us. Vote no on the tax!
