Reference: The Fountain Hills Times’ front page article dated June 26, wherein Mayor Dickey explains why the Council rejected a proposed FAA flight path over our town.
Our town has two very similar problems; the Daybreak development and the proposed flight path which the Town Council has ruled against because, as Mayor Dickey states, “The town opposes the latter modification as proposed, and the town likewise opposes any modification that would significantly increase air traffic over Fountain Hills and the surrounding areas.

“This or any such proposal would dramatically increase the noise and frequency of air traffic over the town, potentially decrease property values and decrease quality of life and attractiveness of the town that has made the town a focal point of tourism and events since its founding.”
The problems created by the Daybreak development are more immediate and possibly more deadly than a flight path change. Applying Mayor Dickey’s above statement to the Daybreak development, I believe property values and the quality of life and attractiveness of our town will be adversely affected by the Daybreak proposal. Noise levels near the Palisades and Shea intersection could rise and, with no traffic control measures planned, Daybreak’s proposed entries and exits may increase the frequency of auto accidents because of existing site/distance problems along Palisades.
I implore our council to apply the same reasoning to the Daybreak development as they applied to a less serious flight pattern over our town. Preventing a traffic situation conducive to more noise and major accidents is as important, if not more important, than a proposed flight path.
