Fountain Hills High School senior Skye Alker was a force to be reckoned with in cross country this year.
She placed in the top 10 in five of her eight races this year and medaled in every race during the regular season. She placed 22nd (21:24.3) in the state championships Saturday, Nov. 4.
Medals are awarded to the top 21 places at the state championships, and Alker just missed the mark on a hot afternoon run. Alker set a personal record (20:10.6) when she took first place and won the Western Equinox XC Festival Sept. 23.
