Slechta: Councilmember Kalivianakis should have stopped the sign ordinance
The deceit continues. At the last Town Council meeting, it became clear that four members serve only special interests, not the good citizens of this town.
I always knew where three of them stood, serve the businesses first. But, to my shock, Brenda Kalivianakis showed her true colors. I had hopes she was a person of reason, but I was wrong. On the agenda was proposed sign ordinance changes. It was made clear that A-frame signs can now be placed virtually anywhere in town right of ways, such that anybody can put signs on Shea Boulevard regardless of business location in town. So, businesses on Palisades or Saguaro can place signs anywhere.
Picture political sign season on steroids! And maybe in front of your house or on town right of ways?

Brenda was horrified by the specter of clutter, but she voted for it. If you watch the town video, you can see that moment. Enough is enough. The town cannot restrict content! The town will not be able to control who is placing signs, and at how many locations because a business could be on Colony and post on Shea and Palisades and who knows where else.
Brenda voted, sure, that is fine with her. The vote was 4-3. She could have stopped this. If you care about the beauty of our town and do not want to damage property values, speak up. Watch the Town Council video. See the two faces of Brenda.
