Slechta: The choice is clear, reelect Mayor Dickey
Her record is clear. By law, towns must balance budgets and Mayor Dickey steered us through COVID, a time when sales tax revenue was severely strained. Sales tax is our revenue lifeblood.
Mayor Dickey also oversaw the transition, seamless, of our fire department to in-house. The mayor is committed to our safety. Our roads’ condition continues to stabilize. Mayor Dickey used CARES funding and focused planning to address roads. A Dickey administration-initiated roads committee has presented long-term recommendations. A vote for Dickey will move us forward on roads.
On budget, per capita expenditures is a great way to compare our town to others. Under Mayor Dickey’s leadership, our per capita costs are lower than almost all cities in Maricopa County. Less than Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Apache Junction, Cave Creek. Some cities spend three times more per capita. Add Dark Skies, Target redevelopment, sidewalk and downtown infills, Fountain Hills Medical center, the Environmental Plan, and parks improvements to achievements under her watch. Compare these successes to her competition.

Which mayoral candidate botched hundreds of sexual abuse claims, abused budgets and, of course, cost taxpayers $300 million we are still paying for? Joe Arpaio. I challenge anyone to find a single town issue Arpaio has addressed. What’s his town volunteerism record? How many council meetings does he attend? He knows policing. That is it.
As for Mr. Friedel, he claims five years in town government. Yawn. He has complained about the streets but his suggestion is asking for more studies? Really? He has voted to protect an ethics violator. He votes against projects that would energize our community, like the Target redevelopment. He voted to delete a working sign ordinance.
Reelect Ginny Dickey!
