Members of the Fountain Hills Democratic Precinct Committee held a recent event discussing constitutional rights.
Russell Facente from the National Lawyers Guild spoke at the Feb. 28 meeting at The Fountains United Methodist Church, discussing information about the constitutional right to be free from unlawful searches, seizures, and arrests, according to a press release.
Facente also spoke about the right to free speech and assembly, as well as staying safe during encounters with law enforcement and ICE by recognizing the right to refuse to be questioned and to refuse to have possessions seized or searched such as cell phones. He also reminded attendees of their constitutional right to film, record and comment on activities taking place around them.
