Special budget session for council Tuesday

The Town Council will meet for a special session on Tuesday, April 23, to discuss its $32,156,660 budget proposal for the 2019/2020 fiscal year.
The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The session is open to the public. A second meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, if needed.
The budget plan is the town’s lowest total more than six years.
Public safety services in the form of contracts with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Rural/Metro account for $8.8 million of the General Fund budget, more than half the General Fund total.
The council is slated to adopt its tentative budget at its session on May 7. The meetings this week are an opportunity to work out last minute adjustments before that consideration. The budget cannot be increased after the tentative proposal is approved. Final adoption is scheduled for the first council session in June.
