Splash Pad to close for resurfacing

The Rotary Centennial Splash Pad, located at Fountain Park, will be closed next week, starting Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5 for resurfacing upgrades. The resurfacing will include new temperature and slip-resistant material to help keep the Splash Pad safe for all ages.

This maintenance will help preserve the longevity of the Splash Pad and ensure this popular park amenity remains in top shape for the busy summer season.

The new coating for the Splash Pad will be Pure Polyurea. Polyurea has been used at amusement parks worldwide to protect splash surfaces of water rides and provide a slip resistant coating. Polyurea or PU materials are free of solvents and react extremely quickly. It is possible to use or further-process the treated surfaces after a very short time.

Polyurea coatings are highly resistant to aggressive chemicals, solvents, acids and alkalis as well as to UV radiation. Polyurea coatings have a long useful life and are low-maintenance, which offers considerable cost savings. Polyurea has permanent high elasticity; it is tear-resistant, abrasion-resistant and highly temperature-resistant.
