SRP is the sole electric utility provider to Fountain Hills, yet citizens of Fountain Hills have no representation on SRP’s Board of Directors (BOD), have no voting rights for electing the BOD, and cannot run for a position on the BOD because our town lies outside the 1937 SRP district boundary.
The Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District was/is an agricultural improvement district and a political subdivision of the State, formed in 1937. The SRP BOD sets rates and policies that affect all customers; but the BOD is elected only by property owners within the 1937 district boundary.
The citizens and SRP customers of Fountain Hills are subject to SRP’s decisions and control without representation. SRP answers to No overseeing authority (such as the ACC). This is insulting and contrary to American values, justice, and equal representation for Arizona citizens.

I urge you to contact your local and state-elected officials and demand that they cct to obtain fair and equitable representation, and voting rights, in the SRP Power District for the citizens of Fountain Hills.
Expand the current (1937) SRP Power District boundary, such that Fountain Hills (and other areas such as Queen Creek, Gilbert and Ahwatukee) is included.
Amend the election/voting rules of the SRP Power District to make all SRP customer property owners eligible to vote in district/area elections (not just for at-large seats).
Keep current voting limitations based on acreage owned and the at-large seat rule of one vote per landowner.
Amend the SRP Power District election/candidate eligibility rules to allow any qualified property owner within the above-referenced expanded district boundary to run as a candidate for the Board of Directors or for District Councils (not just for at-large seats).
