SRP releasing water from behind Horseshoe Dam

Recent rainfall prompts water management action

Since late September, a significant amount of rain has fallen across the Verde River watershed and as a result Salt River Project has begun releasing water from Horseshoe Lake downstream into Bartlett Lake.

SRP began the release through the dam spillway at 1 p.m. November 24. At that point the lake was 87% of its capacity, according to SRP data.

Water is being released at a rate of approximately 4,500 cubic feet per second (cfs). One cfs is equivalent to about 7.5 gallons per second.
