We’ve enjoyed some pretty cool spring temperatures this year, so summer may have snuck up on quite a few of us. Here are a couple of friendly reminders to help keep everyone safe in the coming months.

For starters, nobody likes a sunburn. If you plan on being outside for a day of fun in the sun, don’t forget to pack the sunblock.

It’s also important to remember to stay hydrated. Dehydration can sneak up on you as quickly as these summer temperatures did, and it’s usually too late to do much about it when it hits. To avoid those dangers, be sure to bring water with you throughout the summer months, even if you don’t plan on being gone for too long. You never know what is going to happen and, if you get stuck out in the heat for a bit, you’ll be thankful you kept that bottle of water handy.

Summertime also means pool time for many Fountain Hills residents, which means it’s time to be extra cautious when it comes to youngsters around water. Always keep an eye on the kiddos around the pool, make sure they get some swimming lessons and, for additional tips, feel free to check out safekids.org/poolsafety. That site has all sorts of tips for keeping kids safe around water, including several precautions even the most vigilant of parents may not have thought of.

All of this simply boils down to being cautious and being prepared. Before you head out into the sun, think about where you’re going to be and what you might need to stay safe, cool and comfortable. After that, get out there and enjoy the summer.
