Fountain Hills residents who are interested in filling the town council seat vacated by the resignation of Cecil Yates when he chose to run for mayor are being asked to submit a letter of interest for appointment to fill the vacancy.

Citizens who qualify as a candidate, town residents who are eligible to vote, may submit a letter of interest to town hall by Sept. 1.

The following items must be submitted together and be postmarked by Sept. 1, 2018 in order to be considered:

*Letter of interest addressed to the Mayor and Council.

*Financial Disclosure Statement.

*Qualifications Declaration Form.

The Financial Disclosure Statement form and Declaration of Qualifications Form can be downloaded from fh.az.gov/councilvacancy.

The letters should be sent to the Office of the Mayor and Town Council, 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268, Att: Nancy Walter.

There will be a public participation element to the selection with a forum open to allow residents to pose questions to the candidates.

The Town Council will interview candidates and ultimately make the decision on who will fill out the remainder of Yates’ term until December 2020.
