Maricopa County rainfall monitoring sites around town collected as much as .67 inch of rain in Hesperus Wash (near Dixie Mine near the southwest corner of McDowell Park). A site along McDowell Mountain Road near the northeast corner of town received .28-inch.
Several of the gauges scattered closer to the center of town received .35 inch including Fountain Hills Fire Station #1 at Palisades Boulevard at Avenue of the Fountains.

Storm brings feel of winter to town

The winter storm that moved through the state and valley overnight Thursday to Friday morning soaked Fountain Hills with a third to more than half an inch of rain.
Maricopa County rainfall monitoring sites around town collected as much as .67 inch of rain in Hesperus Wash (near Dixie Mine near the southwest corner of McDowell Park). A site along McDowell Mountain Road near the northeast corner of town received .28-inch.
Several of the gauges scattered closer to the center of town received .35 inch including Fountain Hills Fire Station #1 at Palisades Boulevard at Avenue of the Fountains.
Other sites farther up in the McDowell Mountains, Golden Eagle Boulevard near the entry to Eagles nest received .59 inch and Cloudburst Wash near the Adero Canyon Trailhead received .55 inch.
The storm also resulted in a drop in temperatures with highs forecast to be about 60 through the weekend and overnight lows falling below 40 early next week.
