Storm not so severe in Fountain Hills

Remnants of a Pacific hurricane pumped moisture into Arizona, dumping buckets of rain throughout the Valley overnight Monday.

While heavy street and freeway flooding choked much of the Phoenix area, Fountain Hills remained free from major issues.

Wash crossings were flooded at Del Cambre and El Pueblo, temporarily closing those streets and causing some delays with bus routes.

Fountain Hills schools are in session, however.

A couple of the Maricopa County Flood Control District rainfall monitoring stations in Fountain Hills received more than two inches of rain. The rain gauge at Stone Ridge Dam received 2.80 inches by 10 a.m. today. The North Heights site collected 2.24 inches and the rain gauge outside The Times office on Laser Drive received 2.7 inches.

Six other monitoring sites received 1.5 inches or more.
