Strong winds in forecast

A strong cold front will move into the region Tuesday resulting in very strong winds. Gusty west to northwest winds will develop during the day Tuesday with gusts of 30 to 40 mph quite common in the afternoon and evening, especially over the higher terrain east of Phoenix.

A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for the strong winds over portions of Gila County. Areas of restricted visibilities due to blowing dust are expected, especially along portions of the Interstate 8, 10 and other dust prone travel corridors.

Strong vehicle crosswinds may also impact travelers along area roadways. Try and plan some extra travel time in to your day, be alert while traveling and remember the blowing dust/dust storm driving safety tip: Pull Aside, Stay Alive!
