In the February 22, 2017 edition of The Times, you published a letter from Thomas Holderbaum, a student at Queen of Peace Catholic School in Mishawaka, Indiana. As a school project, he asked for your readers to write a letter about Arizona and mail it to him in care of his teacher, April Weisser.
She reported to me that Thomas received several replies in addition to mine. Thank you to all of the part-time and full-time residents that wrote to Thomas. He received several replies. However, the student that wrote to a newspaper in Delaware got the most; over 150 letters in reply.

Of Weisser’s 26 students, 23 received a response. I’ve offered to write to the three students not getting a reply to their letter to the editor. I understand that this project was the students’ favorite by far.
In addition, students at Queen of Peace learn cursive in late second grade and continue in third grade. Thank you to April Weisser and all teachers everywhere for teaching cursive. Each person’s penmanship is unique. Seeing handwriting brings a close connection between the writer and the reader of letters.
Coming soon, my newest book: Personal Letters: Gifts from the Heart by Effie-Alean Gross. I hope your readers will continue to write letters and receive them!
