Being a member of the FHUSD Governing Board for the past two years has been a wonderful experience.
I have learned quite a bit regarding our district, policies, procedures, finances, etc. However, the one thing that I learned that truly sticks out in my mind is how important it is to have people on the governing board who are vested in our district.
Now don’t get me wrong, any taxpayer in Fountain Hills is “vested.” The success of the schools plays a big role in property values and the success of small businesses. However, in my opinion, a truly vested governing board member is one who has spent time understanding the education process, spent time in the schools and, most importantly, has children within the district. Anyone can make decisions based on paperwork. A good governing board member makes decisions based on experience, knowledge, understanding and due diligence.

With that being said, I am endorsing Wendy Barnard and Karl Gaardsmoe for FHUSD Governing Board. Both of these individuals are extremely dedicated to our district and the success of our students.
Wendy brings to the board an education research background, Karl has been an integral part of the governing board with his finance background, and they are both truly respected by the parents and teachers within the district. When filling out your ballot, please consider voting for Wendy and Karl.
Both of these candidates have the best interest of the district and, most importantly, our students at heart!
