*FHUSD (the School District) is asking for $2,000 per door for exterior door, lock, handles and hinges ($248,000 for 122 doors). I don’t think the Sistine Chapel doors are worth $2,000.

*FHUSD is asking for five new school buses at $150,000 per bus in a school district that has lost 6 percent enrollment in the last year. They just paid $102,000 per bus for three new buses on the last bond. They are buying buses for a declining school enrollment over the last 5 years at a 48 percent higher price.
*FHUSD wants $25,500 to open a gate.
*FHUSD wants $1.5 million for moving from CAT 5 to CAT 6 cabling, computers and software. We are moving to a wireless world and FHUSD is moving to a more wireline world. I doubt many know the difference between CAT 5 vs. CAT 6.
*FHUSD wants a $1 million fieldturf for the high school football field. No other field, just that; don’t misread last week’s article quoting the AD. One field only. Do hundreds of people actually use that football field per day and need field turf as the AD stated? Do band members get injured on grass?
Need vs. Want. As my wife says, well, this is a microcosm of the federal government. Vote no on this school bond until they get their act together.
We still have two children at this school (one who doesn’t even have a science book in 7th grade yet getting fieldturf is more important). Get my son a science book.
I’m a stakeholder, but this bond is deeply flawed. I will vote yes on a smart bond; this bond is stupid. Vote no.
