Summer activities

Summer is here, but there’s a surprising amount of activity going on around down if you know where to look. Even better, much of it is happening indoors and out of the 100-plus degree heat.

If you just flip through this week’s edition of The Times, you’ll spot all sorts of ongoing and upcoming activities here in Fountain Hills. The Town’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for many of those events, including everything from Party in the Park to the youth cooking class featured on page 1B. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, with future programs including everything from dance classes and youth sports lessons to Summer Games and self-defense. There’s a little something for everyone, so be sure to visit fh.az.gov/recreation to see what else the town has planned for the summer months.

The River of Time Museum and Fountain Hills Library also have a bunch of summer activities planned, including a “Time Travelers” camp for the former and STEM-focused programs at the latter. You can find out more by visiting rotmuseum.org and mcldaz.org (Click on “Events,” then “Fountain Hills”).

Also keeping kids busy this summer are a number of activities at the Boys & Girls Club McKee Branch and various vacation Bible schools at community churches. And if you aren’t averse to battling the heat a bit, there’s always the local Splash Pad and discounted summer rates on golf courses to take advantage of.
