June is here and along with it an early example of what the summer monsoon can bring to the Valley and Fountain Hills.
The June 1 storm moving through Arizona was moisture from a tropical storm off the Pacific Coast It brought as much as .79-inch of rain at the Maricopa County Flood Control District monitoring site on Cloudburst Wash at Adero Canyon Trailhead. Other sites around Fountain Hills received between one third to one half inch of rain with .31 at the Palisades Boulevard Fire Station.
The date the National Weather Service has designated as the official start of the monsoon is June 15. Weather officials say the season should wrap up by the end of September.
